Nurturing the Nature

At Coco Collection, we continue to take small but meaningful steps on our sustainability journey. Staying aligned with the #BeatPlasticPollution movement, our focus remains on protecting the rich biodiversity of our islands and supporting efforts to restore and care for the natural world around us.
To commemorate this year’s World Environment Day, Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu and Coco Bodu Hithi held simple yet impactful experiences in an aim to inspire individuals to adopt sustainable practices and make eco-friendly choices. This is not only to gently raise environmental awareness among our guests and associates, but also to encourage thoughtful actions that support a more sustainable future.
We began the celebration at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu with engaging tree planting activity, along with marking common trees to help preserve the island’s lush vegetation. This was followed by a relaxed Maldivian Afternoon Tea, featuring special local treats and lively music, where we also showcased a selection of homemade products.
In the evening, guests were invited to enjoy a thoughtfully prepared sustainable dining experience at Cowrie, with a focus on locally sourced and environmentally conscious ingredients. The day concluded with an insightful sustainability presentation by our Marine Educator, Rosalie Bailie, alongside the dedicated team from the Olive Ridley Project.
Over at Coco Bodu Hithi, the island welcomed guests and associates to be part of the Tree Planting Ceremony where the aim of it was to plant native trees in a shared effort to green the island. Later, everyone joined in a collaborative island clean-up, an effort to care for and maintain the natural beauty of our surroundings.
